Jerry and Marlene Mosley’s 7,000-acre cattle ranch in Pawhuska, Oklahoma, serves as base camp for this weeklong immersion in cutting.

Liberty Ranch clinician Lee Sellers has spent a lifetime in the saddle—having served as a top hand for large ranches in Texas, New Mexico and Oklahoma, and cutting horse trainer. He is a natural born teacher of horses and people.

Liberty’s ample cattle supply and intimate clinic size provide numerous opportunities to put our cutting lessons to use. On an average day we each make 10 to 15 trips into the herd and, when we’re not cutting, we apply our fledgling skills as turnback help for our classmates.

Liberty offers seasoned cutting horses for all levels of riders. Selected first for their minds and second for their ability, horses of the Liberty cavy and show string are also utilized in the daily cattle operations.

Though Liberty Ranch is a cattle outfit first and foremost, owners Jerry (left) and Marlene (right) Mosley joined forces with trainer Lee Sellers (center) to offer an intense, hands, on cutting clinics for both novices and experienced competitors. According to Jerry, the ranch’s goal is not to train and sell you a horse that can cut but to train you to be a good cutter.
