GENERAL INFORMATION

What does the Western Horseman app cost? The app is a FREE download on the App Store in iTunes. Search for “Western Horseman” in the iPad section of the store and tap the install button. You may also download it through the Newsstand folder on your home screen.

What does the app do? The app is a content viewer that allows you to access issues that you have paid for or are entitled to through special promotions. The app is free, and each issue purchased from within the app is charged to your iTunes account. Subscriptions purchased at www.WesternHorseman.com are charged to whatever card is used to make the purchase.

Is the tablet version available on other devices or platforms? At this time, the current version is available only on iPad. It is not viewable on iPhone, Android, desktop, or other platforms. We hope to add additional devices in the future.

What’s the difference between this iPad edition and the Western Horseman print edition? Our iPad edition makes full use of the iPad’s user-intuitive navigational tools and spectacular display. Every bit of content you love from the issue is in Western Horseman for iPad.

How do I navigate the iPad edition? You can explore your copy of Western Horseman page by page or by skipping around. Swipe across with one finger to turn one story at a time. Tap the screen once to return to the library view or activate the navigation bar at the bottom of the screen. The app is dual view, optimized for both vertical and horizontal reading.

ACCESSING SPECIAL PROMOTIONS

I have special promotional access to Western Horseman for iPad. How do I download my issues? If you have promotional access to Western Horseman for iPad, you will need to create an account to download issues. Follow these steps:

1. Visit the App Store and download the Western Horseman app for iPad.
2. With the app downloaded and opened, tap “Sign In” in the upper left-hand corner.
3. Tap “Create an Account”
4. Tap “Existing Digital Subscribers”
5. Enter your email address and set a password.
6. Tap “Submit”

You will receive a confirmation email, and each time you open the app you can sign in using your credentials and download the issues to which you are entitled. Entitled issues are indicated by a download icon instead of a single-copy price.

PURCHASING ISSUES AND SUBSCRIPTIONS

What options do I have for print and tablet reading? There are three ways to enjoy Western Horseman. You can subscribe to print only via our regular print subscription page. You may start a subscription that includes print and digital, or you may add digital to your existing print subscription.

I just purchased (or added) a digital subscription through the Western Horseman website. How do I begin receiving copies? First, you must download the free Western Horseman app on the App Store in iTunes. Do not purchase anything else from within the app, as your subscription is already paid for. The first time you open the app after downloading, tap the screen and look for the “Library” tab on the top row navigation bar, then:

1. Press “Sign In” or “My Account.”
2. Enter the e-mail address and password you set up when you ordered your subscription and hit “Log In”
3. Close the Sign-In window and press “Library” to see the issues you are currently entitled to receive. This will be the current issue when you first subscribed, then each subsequent issue on your subscription term as it is published.
4. Press the box with the issue you wish to read.

If I’m already a Western Horseman print subscriber, can I get the iPad edition at a lower price than advertised? Yes, we are offering a special lower price for our current paid print subscribers. Please click here. We are also featuring a special combination offer for new subscribers who wish to receive both the print and digital versions.

If I’m already a Western Horseman print subscriber, can I transfer my subscription to the iPad? We do not yet have a procedure in place to accommodate this, but we are working on being able to accommodate such requests. What if I don’t see the issues I’ve purchased or downloaded before? If the issues you’ve purchased are not listed in your Library, first make sure you’re using the same iTunes account with which you originally purchased the issues. If so, hit the “Restore All Issues” button in the upper right corner of the Library tab, which should restore your permissions to all issues you’re entitled to. If that doesn’t solve it, please let us know at WesternHorseman@emailcustomerservice.com

How do I buy more single copy issues? Single copies are available for sale only through iTunes. In the Library view, click on any unpurchased issue to bring up a single copy price, and follow the prompts to purchase with your Apple ID. At this time, no single copy sales are available directly from the publisher. Only subscriptions are available direct from the publisher.

How do I access new issues on my subscription? If you purchase a subscription through Western Horseman, new issues will automatically be added to your library. Simply tap on the new issues and follow the prompts to access you latest issue.

Should I allow Push Notifications? We recommend that you allow push notifications since that is how we are best able to let you know as soon as a new issue has been added to the library.

How do I cancel my subscription or get a refund? To cancel your subscription or get a refund please contact customer service at WesternHorseman@emailcustomerservice.com or call 1-800-877-5278 (Foreign Subscribers 1-386-246-0443). PLEASE NOTE: We can only issue refunds on iPad subscriptions purchased directly through WesternHorseman.com. We cannot make refunds on subscriptions purchased inside the app through Apple.

Can I transfer my subscription to another device? You may access your purchased issues or subscription on another iPad running the Western Horseman app if you’re signed in with the same iTunes account. Just download the app, make sure you are signed into the same iTunes account with which you originally purchased the subscription, and hit the “Restore All Purchases” button. At this time, you may not access your iTunes-purchased subscription on any non-iPad device or other platforms.

TECHNICAL SUPPORT

My issue is stuck at the “Processing” stage—what do I do? This happens occasionally when the iPad interrupts the processing of the issue. Typically restarting the app will resolve the issue. If not, you can always delete and re-install the app. You will never have to pay again for something you’ve already purchased, as long as you’re on the same account. Upon reinstall, you’ll see a box asking if you wish to restore all purchases—press “Yes”. If you miss that box, just tap “Missing Issues” in the Library list to get back access to all previously purchased issues and subscriptions.

I don’t see all the issues I’ve purchased. First, make sure you’re signed in to the same account you used to purchase the issues. If so, hit the “Restore All Purchases” button on the upper right-hand corner of the Library tab. If this does not solve the problem, please contact us at WesternHorseman@emailcustomerservice.com

How do I delete an issue? In your Library list, you’ll see a button to the right of each issue that says Archive. Tap this button, and you will delete the issue from active storage on your device. At any time, You can always re-download those issues again later at no charge.

My App keeps “crashing”. If you have not yet downloaded the Western Horseman app from the iTunes store, please do so. This is a free app available at in the iTunes store. Unfortunately, some iPad 1 users have experienced problems with the app crashing. If this happens, you should be able to fix it by following these steps:

1. Close all running apps. (Double-click the Home button, press and hold on the app icons in the bottom list until they start “shaking”, then tap the “X” on each to close the app).
2. Shut down the iPad. (Hold the Power key then slide the red bar when prompted).
3. Close the Sign-In window and press “Library” to see the issues you are currently entitled to receive. This will be the current issue when you first subscribed, then each subsequent issue on your subscription term as it is published.
4. Turn the iPad on again. The App should now work fine.
