Raised in an Air Force family, Christine Hamilton grew up moving from base to base across the country, riding and showing her grade mare. After graduating from The University of Alabama with an English degree in 1990, she pursued a living combining her love of writing and horses.

Her career has included work as a lab technician at the Colorado State University Equine Reproduction Laboratory, teaching freshman composition at the University of Oklahoma, as well as working at Bob Moore Farms, a racing Quarter Horse breeding farm, and Royal Vista Equine, an embryo transfer facility and stallion station.

She also freelance wrote, which eventually led to positions at The American Quarter Horse Journal as field editor and editor. She became editor of Western Horseman in 2014. An active member of American Horse Publications, she is a past-president of the organization.

Through her upbringing and story-gathering trips, Christine has traveled throughout the United States and on three continents. She enjoys meeting and learning from people who make a living by their horses, especially in the North American West.

Christine’s favorite job is aunt, and vacation time finds her with her brother’s family, often exploring the outdoors. She hauls her Quarter Horse mare when she can—to gather, trail ride, hit a clinic or a Stock Horse of Texas show—and her dog Tilly rides shotgun.
