2. Top Horses. I don’t envy the judges who have to select the event’s Top Horse, because the competition is stiff. The award went to Razzle Dazzle Rey, ridden by John C. Brian of the Veale Ranch and Triangle Ranch team.
1. Due Respect. Above all, I’m always proud of the values and reverence the ranching community exhibits. There were tributes to two men who passed earlier this year, announcer Hadley Barrett and stock contractor Harry Vold. There was more than $25,000 raised at an auction for the Working Ranch Cowboys Fund, which supports ranching families in crisis. And before each performance, during the invocation and singing of the national anthem, everyone stood and men removed their hats.
