Overriding a horse is one horse show mistake that riders often make, says Oklahoma trainer Marilyn Peters, especially when showing in several classes in one day, like you do in ranch versatility.
Here’s a simple exercise she puts horses through just before riding into the show pen. It gets the horse tuned into the rider before each class, without overriding. In the video, Marilyn explains the drill as her daughter, Jamie Peters, demonstrates.
