Dirt and grass are much more prevalent in my photo shoots than water. But I always look forward to an opportunity to include streams, lakes and stock tanks in my images, especially when the sun is low on the horizon. About three years ago I was photographing Tom Curtin in Oklahoma for a horsemanship article. To get the angle I wanted, I slowly sunk my left boot into the water, trying not to cause any ripples. Tom worked his way down the bank, and we ended up with a cover shot for the February 2015 issue of Western Horseman.
