In 2007, Managing Editor Fran Smith traveled to Meadows Ranch in Mississippi for a story on its horse program. I tagged along to get photos. The operation had several stallions and pasture-bred most of its mares. That was neat to see in an age when so many foals are produced via artificial insemination. Early one morning during our stay, I captured this image of a stallion courting a gray mare. He foal is showing submission to the stallion by champing its mouth. In 2007, Managing Editor Fran Smith traveled to Meadows Ranch in Mississippi for a story on its horse program.
