A few years ago I attended the National High School Finals Rodeo in Rock Springs, Wyoming, and was able to set up behind the chutes to get this shot. Once the buzzer rings after a good bronc ride, it’s easy to look up at the scoreboard. But lately I’ve been keeping my eyes on the arena floor and watching the incredible job that pick-up men and their horses do. They save a lot of cowboys from disaster, clear the arena with unique skills, and ride quick, athletic horses that are as well-broke as any in the industry.
