What is an Appaloosa? To most people, the term has no meaning. Those familiar with the Western horse have heard the term applied to animals with peculiar spots on the rump, and have usually considered it some sort of color term.

Cowboys have a long history of enjoying dancing. In West Texas alone, ranches in the late 1800s took turns holding winter dances “when ranch activities slackened a bit.”

This year marked Cheyenne’s 73rd annual western celebration—Frontier Days; and “Old Cheyenne,” as the Wyoming town is known to many cowboys, really drew contestants and spectators alike. Weeks ahead of the July 22-27 dates, all hotel and motel rooms were sold out for Frontier Days.
