When I think of cowboys working in Nevada, I picture flat-hat buckaroos moving cattle beneath thin clouds of rising dust. However, in the lonely town of Dyer, Nick Dowers is disrupting the soil at a much faster pace, working his reined cow horses and turning cows down the north fence of his outdoor arena. During a photo shoot in August of 2018, the morning light was crisp and Dowers’ horse, Smooth Bellingrath, was spot-on in his fence work.
