Cow horse trainer Nick Dowers works at home with Leroy, a big, brown, snorty gelding he started while competing at Road to the Horse in 2018. The horse presented a tough challenge during the competition, nevertheless Dowers decided to purchase the Four Sixes-bred gelding and train him to be a ranch horse. At first, Leroy kept his defenses up, but in a couple of days Dowers was riding him on the range surrounding his facility in Dyer, Nevada. I visited Dowers in December of 2018, when he was working with him for the first time since Road to the Horse.
