Legendary cutting horse enters new chapter under new ownership.
One of the most recognized names in cutting horse history has a new home. Jason and Kisha Itkin, owners of Montana-based Theorem Ranch, have purchased Stevie Rey Von from longtime breeders Alvin and Becky Fults.
Known for producing elite horses with sound minds and strong genetics, the Fults program has long been considered one of the most influential in Western performance horse breeding. Stevie Rey Von is among their most successful stallions, with more than $19 million in foal earnings and a rare trifecta of accomplishments: an NCHA Open Futurity Champion who was sired by one and has sired one.
The Itkins confirmed that Beau Galyean, who has managed Stevie’s breeding career and trained the stallion to his futurity win, will continue to lead the program.
“Beau is one of the best to ever do it,” Jason Itkin says. “Keeping the right people in place is important to us. This isn’t just about owning a great horse. It’s about honoring the team and tradition behind him.”
While Jason is nationally known for his work as a trial attorney, and Kisha for her leadership of Theorem Vineyards and Theorem Ranch, both share a lifelong love for horses.
“I grew up in a small town, sneaking out to sleep under my horse’s stall,” Kisha says. “He wasn’t a Stevie, but to me, he was everything. Horses shaped my childhood, and I feel incredibly lucky to now be part of a horse’s story that has shaped the industry.”
The couple hopes to use their platform to raise awareness for Western performance horse events and the people behind them.
“Western culture is foundational to this country, but outside of our circle, few people really understand the caliber of horses and horsemanship involved,” Jason says. “We want to help change that. Stevie’s legacy gives us the perfect place to start.”
