Horsemanship Tips
In preparing to mount any strange horse, check his rein response from the ground first. Make sure you can bend or flex his head and neck from side to side and that he backs a few steps when you pull back with both reins. If he can’t do it on the ground, there’s a good chance he won’t do it with you in the saddle either. He doesn’t have much of a steering mechanism and could even go over backward when you apply rein pressure. Such a horse needs to return to foundation or beginning work.
