Here's a quick look at some handy items that any horseman could put to use. These items have not been tested by the Western Horseman staff. These are simply press releases about new items on the market.

ImageCashel Company’s Crusader Fly Mask offers fly protection without the use of toxic sprays.

The mask features a form-fitting cap made of soft micro-mesh and a patented forelock hole that keeps hair out of the horse’s eyes. In addition, the mask includes a double dart around the eye area that keeps mesh away from the temples, eyes and eyelashes. According to a press release, the vinyl-coated polyester mesh blocks 70 percent of the sun’s UV rays.

ImageLoad-Up is taking the work out of one common chore by making it easier to load hay bales on the top of a horse trailer.

Load-Up is a self-contained bale loader that fits permanently inside a trailer’s hayrack and folds flat for transport. It has a wired or wireless remote control to use from the ground and is capable of lifting 250 pounds. The lift can be used to load two to three bales at a time. Other items, such as roof-mounted storage containers, can also be loaded with the device.

ImageChanging a flat tire on a tandem-axle trailer should now be much simpler thanks to Valley’s Rocker Jack.

According to the company, the jack’s unique rocker shape allows an operator to drive his or her trailer onto the jack to elevate the corresponding tire. Featuring all-steel construction and a ribbed surface for maximum tire grip, the jack is rated for a total load capacity of 20,000 pounds. The jack can also function as a wheel chock.
