Tongue River Ranch Manager T.J. Roberts sorts dry cows from the herd. It was cool to watch his gelding, TRR Sharlenas Pepcid, work cattle with quick, cow-smart moves. He was so well-trained and light in the bridle that Roberts was able to ride him with a war bridle. Less than a month later, I watched the horse go through the Western Heritage Classic Ranch Horse Sale in Abilene, Texas. Just as the roan gelding stood out from this herd of Black Angus cows, he separated himself from other horses in the sale, bringing the highest bid of $25,000.
